Kiefer Garner, 35, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple sexual offences against a girl under 13. The case, heard at Preston Crown Court Sessions House on June 15, involved Garner filming himself abusing the victim and possessing hundreds of indecent images.
Details of the Offences
Lancashire Constabulary seized a USB, laptop, and mobile phone from Garner, discovering a total of 519 indecent images. Of these, 92 were classified as Category A, the most serious level. The USB contained videos of Garner assaulting the young girl, as well as naked pictures of her and another child.
Investigators also found screen recordings from Snapchat, where Garner used a fake name and an image of a young adult male, not himself. The recordings showed him engaging in conversations with young females and exchanging explicit images.
Charges and Sentence
Garner pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to charges including assault of a girl under 13 by penetration, assault by touching, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and making indecent photographs of a child. He was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with an extended licence period of eight years. He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Police Response
Detective Constable Cathryn Whitworth of Lancashire Police said: "Kiefer Garner is a very dangerous individual and I welcome the lengthy sentence imposed on him by the judge. Garner has an abhorrent interest in young girls, as shown by his guilty pleas to these offences." She urged victims of sexual assault to report to police, adding: "We will support you and investigate thoroughly in a bid to bring offenders to justice."
