Man jailed for 'disgusting' act in McDonald's toilet

Registered Sex Offender Jailed for Toilet Incident

A 46-year-old man from Wythenshawe has been sentenced to eight years in prison for committing a sexual act in front of a young boy in a McDonald's restaurant toilet.

Christopher Taylor, a registered sex offender, carried out the disgusting behaviour at the fast-food chain's Rawtenstall branch in June this year.

Disturbing Details Emerge

The court heard how Taylor stood next to the urinals and performed a sexual act while an 11-year-old boy was washing his hands nearby.

Due to an existing sexual harm prevention order, Taylor was only permitted to use public toilets if they were individual cubicles, making his actions a clear breach of this legal restriction.

The young victim immediately recognised something was wrong, telling his mother afterwards: "Something's happened in the bathroom that's really weird."

Investigation and Arrest

Police launched an investigation and used CCTV footage from the restaurant to identify Taylor's vehicle.

This crucial evidence led officers to Manchester, where Taylor was arrested several days later.

At Preston Crown Court on Friday, Taylor, formerly of Tenterden Walk in Wythenshaw, Manchester, was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13 and breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Constable Adam Rainsbury of Burnley CID stated: "This was disgusting behaviour by Taylor in front of a young boy who was using the toilets in McDonald's. Taylor is a registered sex offender who had conditions placed on him as part of a sexual harm prevention order. I welcome the prison sentence imposed on him and it shows that such behaviour will not be tolerated."

The eight-year extended sentence reflects the seriousness of Taylor's offences and the risk he poses to the public.
