Combs' lawyers had proposed a $50 million bond, travel restrictions, and house arrest at his Miami home with electronic monitoring and private security. They argued that the acquittals undermined the rationale for detention, noting that others with similar convictions have been released before sentencing.
Prosecutors opposed bail, citing Combs' 'extensive history of violence' and his attempts to minimise recent violent conduct. They argued he remains dangerous and not amenable to supervision.
Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, has been held since his arrest in September. He faces allegations of coercing girlfriends into drug-fueled sexual encounters, which his lawyers characterised as consensual, if unconventional, behaviour within complicated relationships.
