A woman from Darwen drowned in her bath with a sponge discovered blocking the plughole, an inquest heard.
Natasha Keryk, who was born in Darwen, was found dead at her home on Lynwood Avenue on October 7, 2024. At the time of her death, she was working as a secretary, Blackburn Town Hall was told on Wednesday, September 23.
Cause of death confirmed
The inquest heard that the cause of death was drowning, with acute alcohol intoxication recorded as a contributory factor. She was discovered in the bath with a sponge covering the plughole.
While Natasha had been experiencing "significant challenging personal issues" and was receiving professional support, it was not possible to establish her intentions.
Coroner's conclusion
Area Coroner Emma Mather returned a narrative conclusion and said: "Natasha Margaret Keryk died on the 7th October 2024 in her home in Darwen. Natasha was found submerged in the bath where a sponge was covering the plug and she died from drowning.
"At the time of her death she was acutely intoxicated. Natasha was experiencing significant challenging personal issues at the time of her death and was being supported by professionals. Her intentions cannot be determined."
