A British father has appeared in court in Cyprus after his two-year-old son fell to his death from a hotel window on the first day of a family holiday.
Joshua Foster, 37, told Paphos District Court he had not realised the window was open when he placed the toddler on a windowsill, and that he thought there was protective glass and the window was shut when he "lost control" of the child.
The boy fell nearly 40ft at the five-star King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort in Chlorakas on July 12.
Guilty plea entered
Foster had already pleaded guilty to one count of causing death through a reckless, rash or dangerous act before today's hearing.
The incident occurred on the first day of the family's holiday in Cyprus.
Court proceedings
The case was heard at Paphos District Court, where details of the circumstances surrounding the child's death were outlined.
The court continues to consider the case following Foster's guilty plea.
