Christa Pike wakes, no memory of botched execution

Christa Pike, 50, a death row inmate whose execution was botched, has woken from a week-long coma with no memory of the attempt on her life, according to an anesthesiologist advising her legal team.

Speaking to the BBC, Dr Joel Zivot said the inmate had been taken off a ventilator and was able to speak, though her mind remains hazy. "She has some memories of being in the hospital but no memory, I believe, of the execution attempt," Dr Zivot told the BBC.

Confusion after waking

Dr Zivot added that while Pike remembered her own name upon waking, she was confused about the time, guessing it was still September when asked for the date.

Pike remains in a critical condition with severe injuries to her arm, the report said.
