A body has been discovered in a lake in Cheshire during the search for missing woman Rachel Booth, police have confirmed. The 38-year-old from Barnton, near Northwich, was reported missing by her family in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Rachel Booth was last seen at 3.50am on Saturday at a petrol station shop in Sandiway, captured on CCTV wearing black exercise clothing and trainers. Police launched an extensive search involving officers, police dogs, underwater search teams, and Cheshire search and rescue.
On Monday afternoon, a body was recovered from a lake in Oakmere, a village near Delamere Forest, approximately three miles from where she was last seen. A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: 'Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of Rachel. Her family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.'
The family has requested privacy. Police stated there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances, and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Wild Shore Delamere, a water sports company, announced it would close for Monday and Tuesday due to ongoing police investigations in the surrounding area, noting the incident is unrelated to their business.
