Two men have been fined after police recovered firearms and ammunition during a raid in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Richard Mason, 61, and Harry Mason, 19, appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 9, 2026, charged with multiple firearms offences.
Details of the Raid
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at around 8am, Northumbria Police executed a warrant at a property on Cotterdale in the Hadrian Lodge West area of Wallsend. Inside, officers discovered a number of suspected firearms and rounds of ammunition. Four people were arrested: two men aged 61 and 19, and two women aged 48 and 23.
Court Outcome
At North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, Richard Mason was fined £1,536 for possession of a firearm. Harry Mason was fined £384 for the same charge. Two of the four charges of possession of a firearm faced by Harry Mason were withdrawn. The two women arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 8am on Tuesday (July 7), we executed a warrant at an address on Cotterdale in the Hadrian Lodge West area of Wallsend in North Tyneside. Once inside the property, officers recovered a number of suspected firearms and rounds of ammunition. Four people – two men aged 61 and 19 and two women aged 48 and 23 – were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms. Both women have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
