A man has died after a two-vehicle crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. Emergency services were called to the Bradfield Highway on the bridge at approximately 12:40pm local time on Saturday, July 18.
Police officers from New South Wales (NSW) attended the scene and found that two vehicles had collided. NSW Ambulance paramedics and police performed CPR on the driver, a man in his 70s, before he was stabilised and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
Police have since confirmed that the man died in hospital. He has not yet been formally identified. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash has been launched, and a report will be prepared for the NSW Coroner.
A spokesperson for NSW Police urged anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who was in the area at the time with dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Sydney City Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers. The crash caused long queues and affected northbound traffic on the bridge.
