A 20-year-old man is recovering from life-altering injuries after being deliberately struck by a car and pinned against a wall outside a Co-op supermarket in Ipswich. Suffolk Constabulary said the incident occurred just before 10pm on Friday on Fircroft Road, following an alleged earlier altercation between the victim and the occupants of a white Volkswagen Polo.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the vehicle was driven at the victim deliberately, trapping him against a wall. The driver and passenger then abandoned the car and fled on foot. All parties are believed to be known to one another. The victim sustained open leg fractures described as life-changing and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Arrests and Investigation
Two men, both aged 20, were arrested shortly after the collision on suspicion of attempted murder. Two other men, also aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs. Suffolk Constabulary stated: 'The four men were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned by detectives. A police scene was in place but the road has now reopened.'
