A student police officer accused of raping and kidnapping a woman has appeared in court, with a provisional trial date set.
Mohammad Hassan, 23, was charged following an incident on August 8 this year. Greater Manchester Police said the incident ended with a 'police pursuit' on the M62.
Charges and court appearance
Mr Hassan is charged with rape; kidnap; intentional strangulation; sexual assault; theft of a mobile phone; and dangerous driving.
On Tuesday (September 15), at Manchester Crown Court prosecutor Emma Kehoe and defence counsel Vanessa Thomson KC discussed legal matters.
Trial date and remand
A provisional trial date was set for February 22 2027, with an estimate duration of five days.
Mr Hassan, of Hale Lane, Failsworth, who appeared via videolink, was remanded in custody until a further case management hearing on November 2.
Police statement
In a previous statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "The charges relate to reports made to GMP on the evening of Saturday 8 August which ended in a police pursuit on the M62 in West Yorkshire. A woman was safeguarded at the scene and continues to be supported by specialist officers and support services."
