Maris Nichols, a science teacher facing charges for allegedly having sex with a student in a classroom cupboard, was "blackmailed" by teenagers who knew about her adult content platform, court documents claim.
Details of the Case
The 25-year-old, who used to teach biology at Alexander High School in Georgia, US, is accused of having sex with six students. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Georgia has executed more than a dozen warrants as part of the investigation.
The warrants cover a range of material, including Nichols' Snapchat and adult content accounts, along with requests linked to several students and their families.
Blackmail Allegations
The bombshell claims were detailed in search warrants. Documents obtained by WSB-TV suggest some students who were aware of Nichols' adult content account allegedly tried to blackmail her, demanding improved grades.
After allegedly having sex with a student in a classroom cupboard, Nichols was also accused of abusing five other teenagers.
Additional Charges
Nichols was re-arrested last month, nearly a fortnight after she was initially charged with sexually assaulting a student at least twice, in the school cupboard and in a parked Hummer. She now faces 11 additional charges, including child molestation, tampering with evidence and grooming, involving five new accusers - one of whom she is also alleged to have had sex with in a public location.
The currently suspended teacher at Alexander High School in Douglasville, where she also held the position of football operations manager, is alleged to have had sexual relations with a boy in his car at a golf course.
She is also accused of sending explicit messages to other teenagers about her sexual fantasies - even using a sex toy during video calls with at least two teens under 16, according to an arrest warrant, the Daily Star reported.
Further Allegations
Nichols allegedly sent explicit photos to a girl and encouraged her to watch the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series before asking to discuss the risqué films. Just three days prior to her first arrest, she instructed one of the teens she had been messaging to erase their communications, the warrant stated.
The complaint did not specify the ages of the alleged victims, only that they were all teenagers. At least four were students at Alexander High School, where Nichols had been employed since May 2023.
"Upon learning of the alleged misconduct, the district immediately launched an investigation. Student safety is the district's highest priority," the Douglas County School System announced in a letter to parents.
