Sussex Police have released images of two men they want to identify in connection with a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Brighton, East Sussex. The force is appealing for the public's help in recognising the individuals.
Incident near West Street
The alleged assault took place on June 23 in an area near the bottom of West Street, close to Brighton Pier and the Royal Pavilion. The teenage girl was reportedly touched over her clothing while on Brighton Beach.
The incident is believed to have occurred in the late afternoon or early evening. According to the police appeal, the two men approached the victim and her friend and sat with them on the beach before the alleged offence happened in the water.
Police appeal for information
Officers from Sussex Police are asking anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference 1694 of 23/06.
The appeal states: "Police are investigating a report that a teenage girl was sexually touched over clothing on Brighton beach, in an area near to the bottom of West Street."
It adds: "The men were alleged to have approached the victim and her friend a short time earlier and sat with them on the beach before the offence took place in the water."
"Officers would now like to speak with the two men in the images in connection with further enquiries," the appeal continues. "If you recognise them, or have any information to report, contact police online, or by calling 101 quoting reference 1694 of 23/06."
