The son of a man who died in hospital after being found injured on an Ayrshire street has paid tribute to his “loving” dad. Graham Milliken was found injured by police on Dundonald Main Street at around 4.05am on Sunday, August 23.
The 57-year-old, from the village, was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where he died a short time later. Graham's family has been informed.
Death treated as murder
Police earlier confirmed following a post-mortem examination today, his death is being treated as murder. A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 25.
Following the tragedy, Graham's son John Mcwilliam paid tribute to his father. Writing online, he said: “RIP dad, you were the most genuine and loving man I'd ever had in my life.”
Tributes from friends and family
Others described Graham as a “gem of a man”. Gillian Cooper said: “So sad. Worked with Graham years ago, gem of a man. Rest in peace Graham.” Michelle Ferrans said: “RIP Graham! You were a true gent.”
Debbie Pioli commented: “He was the loveliest man, god bless Graham. So, so sad.” Helen Wallace wrote: “This is my son's dad and he is heartbroken. RIP Graham, you will be missed.”
Police appeal for information
Images taken from the scene showed a significant policing response in the area at the weekend. Multiple cop vehicles were pictured in attendance as the road was closed off by cops. Officers say inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth said: “Officers are in the area carrying out enquiries, checking CCTV and speaking to local residents in an effort to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. However, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information that would assist our investigation.”
“We would be interested to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage, or anyone who may have heard a disturbance in the area that night to contact us. Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them.”
