The sister of a 29-year-old woman whose body was found in a park has appealed directly to the person responsible to "own up to what you did" in an emotional plea.
Mum-of-two Natasha Connors Kernan was found dead in Ravensdale Park, Dublin, on August 25, and Gardaí are treating her death as murder.
Sister's plea to killer
Speaking to the Irish Mirror on Friday, Natasha's sister Kym Kernan, 28, said: "Own up to what you did. You took a daughter, mother, you took a sister, you took a loved one. We need to know what happened to her and if anyone saw anything just please say it."
She added: "Don't keep it in because it's not like we can get her back. We need to know what happened to her because we need to grieve in the way we need to."
'She was bubbly'
Kym described her sister as a devoted mother with a "bubbly" personality. "We are all destroyed over what happened. She was my best friend, I grew up with her my whole life," she said. "My sister was bubbly. No matter what room she went in she would light it up."
Natasha was a mother to two young children, a girl and a boy, who have been left devastated by her death, Kym said. "My niece is destroyed. She was a mammy's girl and she's destroyed," she said.
"I found the only way I could explain it was to say to her that she was in the park and she fell and hit her head. I didn't know what way to tell the story. It's not an easy thing to do."
Family's shock and false claims
Kym said she received a phone call from her father's girlfriend telling her that her sister had died. "It didn't feel real and it still doesn't. I don't think it's going to feel real until I find out who did this to her and why," she said.
The grieving sister said the fact Natasha was found in a park near Crumlin "made no sense", pointing out that her sister had been staying at her father's girlfriend's home and "was not homeless".
Kym added that she could not think of anyone who would want to harm her sister. "Everyone loved my sister. She was so loveable," she said.
Following Natasha's death, a video was circulated on social media in which Natasha's mother Yvonne stood between individuals who falsely claimed that her daughter's death was caused by a migrant.
Yvonne has since blasted the video as false, and now Natasha's sister has told how the family were informed from day one that an Irish man was responsible for her death.
Kym said: "With my Mam's situation, my Mam is vulnerable enough without all this and she was pushed into that. We were told way before that it wasn't a migrant. We were told from the get go that it was nothing to do with migrants. I was disgusted. Two of my brothers are Muslim and I'm sick of the fact that migrants are blamed for everything."
