Police are investigating after a 10-year-old child sustained injuries in a dog attack in Newport. The incident occurred when a loose dog reportedly chased the child before biting him on the arm in the Pillgwenlly area of the city.
Details of the Incident
Gwent Police confirmed that the attack took place at Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre at approximately 5pm on Tuesday, June 2. Fortunately, the injuries suffered by the 10-year-old were not considered serious, according to authorities.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist with their investigation. A Gwent Police statement said: "We received a report that a dog had bitten a child at Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre in Newport at around 5pm on Tuesday, June 2. A loose dog allegedly chased after a 10-year-old child and bit him on the arm; his injuries were not considered serious."
Appeal for Witnesses
The statement continued: "We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident at Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre or was in the area between 4.45pm and 5.15pm to please come forward and assist with our investigation. Enquiries are ongoing, and if you have any information that may be useful, please call 101 or message us on social media quoting log reference 2600173096."
