Pensioner arrested at Aberavon Beach over blade and bail breach

A 70-year-old man has been arrested following reports of anti-social behaviour at Aberavon Beach in South Wales. Officers from South Wales Police attended the beach at around 1.40pm on Monday after receiving a report of anti-social behaviour.

Arrest and charges

Upon arrival, police identified the man as being in breach of police bail conditions. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place. The man, from Birmingham, remains in police custody.

Police statement

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended Aberavon beachfront at around 1.40pm yesterday (Monday, July 20) following a report of anti-social behaviour. Upon arrival the man concerned was identified to be subject to police bail conditions of which he was in breach. The man - 70 years old and from Birmingham - was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. He is currently in police custody."
