Sakae Fujita, a 41-year-old company employee, was arrested on suspicion of public indecency after allegedly roaming the streets of Tokyo naked and approaching schoolgirls. The incident occurred in the Nerima ward, specifically in Fujimidai, between 4:00pm and 4:25pm on May 8.
Details of the incident
According to the Hikarigaoka Police, Fujita is suspected of targeting female pupils on their way home from school. He reportedly approached them, said "I'm sorry," and then left. He was allegedly naked in the area for under 30 minutes, visiting a park and several streets.
Bizarre excuse during police interview
During a police interview, Fujita partially denied the charges, stating he did not remember the particular incident. However, he admitted to being naked outside more than once, saying he does it when he is "stressed." Japan news outlet FNN reported Fujita as telling police: "I don't remember clearly, but I do remember being naked outside a few times." He also reportedly added: "I feel like I get naked when I'm stressed" and "I want to feel liberated."
