Andrew Bell, from Darlington, has appeared in court accused of murdering care worker Leanne Park. The 44-year-old's body was found after police were called to a property in Darlington town centre on Wednesday night.
Court Appearance
Bell appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning. District Judge Steven Wood sent his case to Teesside Crown Court, where Bell will appear tomorrow. He was remanded in custody during today's hearing, and a plea hearing was listed for October 26.
Tributes to Leanne
Leanne's family have paid tribute to the grandmother, saying: "We love her so much and miss her more than words can describe. We are completely devastated. Her death has ripped the heart out of our family."
Leanne worked at Ventress Hall Care Home. After her death, the business shared a social media post that said: "Leanne was always so kind and would do anything for anybody, especially our residents. The world is beyond cruel and you have been taken too soon."

A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail.
