Forensic officers have been in attendance at a residential address in the Penydarren area of Merthyr Tydfil following a serious incident that left a man dead and a woman hospitalized.
Incident Details
South Wales Police reported that a 36-year-old woman was taken from an address on Rocky Road to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff shortly before midnight on Monday, June 15. She remains in the hospital receiving medical treatment.
A 39-year-old man was later discovered deceased at Pontsticill Reservoir, located in the Bannau Brycheinog National Park, at around 4:30 AM on Tuesday, June 16. His next of kin have been informed.
Police Investigation
Authorities are investigating a serious assault in connection with the incident. A police spokesperson stated: "South Wales Police is investigating a serious assault in Penydarren, Merthyr Tydfil. At around 11:50 PM on Monday, June 15, a 36-year-old woman was taken from an address in Rocky Road to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where she continues to receive medical treatment. At around 4:30 AM on Tuesday (June 16), a 39-year-old man was found deceased at Pontsticill Reservoir. Next of kin has been informed. An investigation is ongoing and police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident."
Forensic officers have been pictured at the scene on Rocky Road, and the investigation continues.
