A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 52-year-old man in Rochdale town centre.
The victim was found unconscious on South Parade at around 1.30am on Saturday, September 26. He was taken to hospital for treatment but died later that day despite the efforts of emergency services.
Murder investigation and arrests
Police launched a murder investigation and two men were arrested in connection with the incident.
In an update issued on Tuesday, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed a man has been charged.
Charged and bailed
Dougie Waring, 37, of Marigold Street, Rochdale, has been charged with manslaughter. He is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The second man arrested in the probe has been bailed pending further enquiries, the force spokesperson said.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Brennan, from GMP's Major Incident Team, previously said the force had a 'dedicated team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident'.
