Northumbria Police have confirmed that Steven Wright, 24, of no fixed abode, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He is scheduled to appear at Newcastle Magistrates Court today, June 9.

The North East Ambulance Service also confirmed they were called to reports of an injured man on New Bridge Street. However, a spokesperson stated that the call was later cancelled by police, as the patient had been taken to hospital by alternative means.
