A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a car in County Durham.
Incident in Horden
Officers from Durham Constabulary responded to a report from Cleveland Police stating that one of their officers had been struck by a car in Horden whilst carrying out enquiries in the area on Monday morning (August 17).
The officer sustained injuries to his arm and leg and was taken to University Hospital North Durham for treatment.
Arrest and charges
Following a short pursuit ending in the Trimdon Grange area, a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody, where he has since been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving.
Jonathan Kenneth Collingwood, of Hartlepool, was remanded into custody to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, August 19).
