A man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder following an incident in which a car allegedly struck multiple pedestrians outside Ealing Broadway shopping centre in West London, leaving five people injured. The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Sunday evening that Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, of Grange Park, Ealing, has also been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage.
Incident Details and Injuries
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30pm on Saturday, when a car ploughed into several pedestrians near the bustling shopping centre. Mohamed allegedly fled the scene after the collision. Five people were hurt, with three requiring hospital treatment. The London Ambulance Service dispatched multiple resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew, and an incident response officer. London's Air Ambulance was also sent to the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital." None of the injuries were deemed life-threatening or life-changing, and two individuals who were not hospitalised received treatment at the scene.
Investigation and Charges
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London carried out preliminary enquiries, but officers confirmed the incident is not being investigated as an act of terrorism. Mohamed, who is Somalia-born, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Monday. The charges include five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage.
