Man Arrested for Murder of 3-Year-Old Girl in Surrey

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a three-year-old girl was discovered at a home in Chertsey, Surrey. Police responded to an address on Pyrcroft Road at approximately 5:40 PM on Thursday following concerns for the child's safety. Upon arrival, officers found the girl deceased inside the semi-detached property. The man was also found at the scene suffering from a serious injury and was taken to hospital. He will be taken into custody once he has been treated.

Investigation Underway

Surrey Police have stated that their preliminary enquiries suggest the incident occurred within a family setting. A spokesperson said: 'At this stage our enquiries lead us to believe that this took place within a family setting and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.' The force has assured the public that there is no wider risk to the community.

Police Presence in Chertsey

The Senior Investigating Officer from the Major Crime Team commented: 'This is a tragic incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened. We have made an arrest in connection with this incident and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation. We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public.' A significant police presence will remain on Pyrcroft Road over the coming days as the investigation continues. The officer added: 'We appreciate that the incident itself, as well as the significant police presence, will be concerning for local residents and we would like to thank them for their cooperation as we conduct our investigation.
