Friend Reveals Lucy Letby Attended Wedding While on Bail for Baby Murders

A childhood friend of Lucy Letby has disclosed that the convicted baby killer attended her wedding while on police bail for the murders of seven infants. Dawn Howe, who attended Aylestone Secondary School in Hereford with Letby, shared photographs from her big day during an ITV documentary titled Lucy Letby: Beyond Reasonable Doubt?

The images show Letby smiling and dancing at the wedding, which took place while Cheshire Police were investigating the neonatal nurse for the deaths of babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Howe told the programme: 'I am just so glad she could be there because it was while she was on bail, she had to get special permission to be allowed to come from the police.'

Howe, who has remained supportive of Letby throughout the trials, reflected on the guilt she feels about living a life her friend should also be leading. 'I am living a life Lucy should be living beside me in parallel. We should both be having families... there is so much guilt that I am sort of living a life that Lucy should also be living,' she said.

Letby was first arrested in July 2018 on suspicion of murdering eight babies. She was formally charged in November 2020 and later found guilty across two trials of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others. She is currently serving 15 whole-life sentences.

Letby has lost two attempts to challenge her convictions at the Court of Appeal. Her legal team has submitted evidence from international experts to the Criminal Cases Review Commission in an effort to overturn the verdicts. The documentary, Lucy Letby: Beyond Reasonable Doubt?, airs on ITV1 at 10.20pm on Sunday August 3.
