Chilling CCTV: Serial Killer Joanna Dennehy 'Flirts' with Police After Murders
Joanna Dennehy 'flirts' with police in chilling CCTV

A new documentary has released chilling footage showing serial killer Joanna Dennehy appearing to flirt with police officers just moments after her arrest for a brutal killing spree. The never-before-seen material is featured in the Amazon Prime film Confessions of a Female Serial Killer, which launched on December 7.

The Disturbing Station Footage

Eerie CCTV from a Hereford police station, aired in a 2019 ITV documentary and revisited in the new film, captures Dennehy laughing and joking with male officers. Just 40 minutes after she had stabbed two dog walkers in a random attack, the killer appears utterly unfazed. In the clip, she compliments an officer on his eyebrows, calls him a "decent copper," and runs her fingers through her hair.

Forensic psychiatrist Professor Jeremy Coid analyses her behaviour, suggesting she used deliberately seductive tactics. "She's reeling him in," he states. "She has a whole series of tricks. There are some things you might see in a prostitute in a bar who will use a similar type of behaviour." Presenter Susanna Reid, who first viewed the full footage, described Dennehy as "utterly shameless."

A Fortnight of Murder

Dennehy's crimes were committed during a horrific two-week period in March 2013. She was sentenced to a whole-life order in 2014 after confessing to the knife murders of three men: Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, Kevin Lee, 48, and John Chapman, 56. She also admitted the attempted murders of two dog walkers, Robin Bereza and John Rogers.

The documentary explores how the mother-of-two from Hertfordshire transformed into what has been labelled "Britain's most notorious female serial killer." Professor Coid explains that the positioning of Kevin Lee's body, found naked from the waist down in a ditch, was intended to "degrade him and get excitement and pleasure from humiliation of him even after he was dead."

A Chilling Persona and Lasting Impact

Those who encountered Dennehy described a disturbing magnetism. Her defence barrister, Michael Procter, revealed he was initially unsure he had the right client due to her engaging personality. "If you met this lady in a bar, or a social situation, you would think she had a personality you were quite drawn to," he said.

The documentary also features an interview with John Treanor, the father of Dennehy's two children. He states that a life sentence is insufficient punishment and has severed all ties. "She is not my children's mother – she gave birth to them, that's all she is," he said. Confessions of a Female Serial Killer is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
