A 21-year-old man has been dismissed from his job at a funeral home in Texas after posting photographs of himself posing with caskets on social media in an apparent bid for online fame.
Alexander’s Mortuary in Highlands confirmed to KPRC 2 that the images, which show the former employee holding a gun in front of closed caskets, are genuine. Derek Anderson, a staff member, said the young man made a mistake trying to go viral and monetise his social media presence. He was terminated following an emergency staff meeting where he admitted to posting the photos for clout.
Although no criminal charges were filed, the employee was immediately fired for violating his non-disclosure agreement and breaking company rules. Staff phones were collected and searched as part of an internal investigation.
In a separate incident, funeral home owner Melvin Alexander is filing a police report against a woman who was invited by a deceased person's family to cut their hair before a service. The woman, who was not an employee, was left alone with the body and allegedly took videos, including one showing a nude woman in a cremation box. The family later contacted the mortuary to express concern.
Alexander expressed deep hurt and sadness over the breach of trust, noting the woman had previously worked at the funeral home without incident. The Texas Funeral Service Commission and Harris County Sheriff’s Office have been contacted for comment.
