Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was killed and another left fighting for his life in Stoke-on-Trent.
Teenager dies at scene
Staffordshire Police were called to reports of a serious assault in Brookhouse Road in Meir at around 11.45pm on Friday night. West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance attended alongside police.
One victim, a man in his late teens, was declared dead at the scene. Another man, also in his late teens, was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries. He remains in a critical but stable condition.
Four arrested
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Three men, two aged 18 and a 20-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All four are from Stoke-on-Trent and remain in custody.
A cordon remains in place at the scene while the investigation continues.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Katie Gregory, the senior investigating officer, said: “This is a devastating time for all those affected by what has happened overnight.”
She added: “I’d like to reassure the community that there is no wider risk to them and we are doing all we can to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.”
Police are urging anyone who was in the area at around 11.30pm yesterday to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage should call 101 or report it online, quoting incident number 1062 of 9 October.
