Former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found guilty of the murder of hip hop icon Tupac Shakur, more than three decades after the fatal drive-by shooting.
A Las Vegas jury deliberated for less than three hours before convicting Davis of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, with the intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang in the killing of Shakur.
Only person charged in the case
Davis is the only individual ever charged in connection with the 1996 shooting, which took place near the Las Vegas Strip.
Prosecutors did not claim that Davis fired the shots that killed Shakur. Instead, they argued that he orchestrated the killing.
Verdict reached swiftly
The jury returned its verdict after a short period of deliberation, bringing a close to a case that had remained open for three decades.
