Colombian police are searching for a British man in connection with the suspected murder of model Natalia Villalba Angarita, whose body was discovered stuffed inside a grey suitcase in a rented apartment in Bogotá.
Discovery of the body
The 36-year-old model from Cúcuta, northern Colombia, was found by cleaning staff on June 22 after the rental period ended. The suitcase was concealed in the bathroom, where the shower was still running. Among her belongings were two passports, one expired and one with stamps showing recent travel to Spain.
Suspects and timeline
The apartment was rented from June 3, with the lease extended to June 21. A US citizen from Texas was present during the early part of her stay. A British national entered the property on June 17 and left the following day, captured on CCTV carrying bed linen to a laundry area. Both men are at large and are being actively sought by police.
Forensic experts are analyzing fingerprint and trace evidence, while a post-mortem is being conducted to determine the cause and time of death. Police are treating the case as a possible wilful homicide and violent death.
Investigation ongoing
Investigators are reviewing security footage and building entry logs to piece together the movements of the two foreign men. No arrests have been made. The Mirror has contacted the Colombian National Police and the Foreign Office for comment.
