Ainsley France, 28, of Lever Street, Radcliffe, has been jailed for 10 years and six months after being found guilty of two counts of rape and sexual assault, among other offences. Greater Manchester Police said France repeatedly stalked his victim while she was out in public with friends and family, before going on to rape and sexually assault her on multiple occasions. He then compounded the abuse by mocking the woman.
Investigation by Bury CID
A thorough investigation by Bury CID took place into France's crimes. A force spokesperson said: "The evidence gathered by investigators, alongside the victim's courage in supporting the prosecution, resulted in France being found guilty of all offences."
Praise for victim's bravery
Following France's conviction, officers have praised the woman's bravery in coming forward. Detective Constable Christopher Davis, from Bury CID, said: "The victim has shown incredible strength and courage throughout this investigation and without her determination a dangerous offender may not have been brought to justice."
He added: "While the sentence cannot undo the trauma she has suffered, we hope it provides some measure of closure and allows her to move forward knowing that France can no longer harm her or others. This case demonstrates our commitment to pursuing those who commit offences of this nature and ensuring they are held accountable for their actions."
