NTU graduate found dead in Peru after week-long search

A Nottingham Trent University graduate has been confirmed dead nearly a week after he went missing while out running in Peru. Jordan Maginley, 29, was last seen on CCTV jogging along the Malecón de Miraflores, a six-mile clifftop boardwalk in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on June 14.

Background and career

The British citizen, who was born in Peru, completed a four-year quantity surveying course at Nottingham Trent University between 2016 and 2020. Mr Maginley was working as a senior quantity surveyor for construction consultancy Gleeds, which opened an office in Lima in 2020, according to Nottingham Post.

Medical emergency and identification

Local media report Mr Maginley suffered a medical emergency while out running and was taken to hospital. As he was not carrying any identification, Mr Maginley was admitted as an unidentified patient and was not initially linked to the missing persons investigation. According to reports in Peru, his body was identified on June 20 following document verification and coordination with diplomatic authorities.

Search and ongoing investigation

Mr Maginley's disappearance had prompted an appeal to help trace him after he failed to return from his run. CCTV footage showed him running along the coastal route shortly before he went missing. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
