Emmerdale's Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) has ended his relationship with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) after Vinny confessed to causing Jimmy King's (Nick Miles) fatal crash.
It was recently revealed that Vinny was driving while on the phone to Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) before Jimmy swerved to avoid him, crashed into a field, and collided with the wedding marquee where Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) were getting married. Jimmy died shortly after the crash, while Dawn later died in hospital.
Vinny's confession and charge
Vinny kept his involvement a secret for a few days but eventually confessed the truth to Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) and Joe. Nicola reported him to the police, and Vinny has since been charged.
With Lewis and Nicola being best friends, Lewis decided he could not support Vinny, whose carelessness on the road has turned Nicola's life upside down.
Emotional breakup at Dale View
In tonight's episode, Lewis cried as he told Vinny they cannot be together. Vinny was devastated but understood why Lewis made this decision. Later, Vinny broke down in Mandy Dingle's (Lisa Riley) arms, terrified about what comes next.
Amid rumours that Bradley Johnson is leaving his role, it looks like Vinny will be sentenced for dangerous driving. Whether a prison cell awaits Vinny or another twist is on the way remains to be seen.
