Police have launched an investigation after a 28-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Malak, a suburb of Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory, on Wednesday morning (September 16).
Officers were called to an address on Paqualin Road at 9:20am after a neighbour found the woman unresponsive inside, a force spokesperson said. Paramedics were dispatched, and despite CPR being administered, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
Arrest and investigation
Northern Territory Police said in a statement: “The exact circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, and the cause of death is currently unknown.”
The woman’s 26-year-old partner was arrested at the house on suspicion of an alleged prior assault on the victim in the hours before, and for breaching a Domestic Violence Order against the victim. He remains in custody.
Crime scene and appeals
A crime scene has been declared, and Major Crime Detectives are investigating the death. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Neighbours reported hearing “massive screaming” from around 5am onwards, according to local outlet NT News.
