Police have launched an urgent search operation after a teenage boy entered a lake in Syston, Leicestershire. Emergency services were called to Meynell Lake on Fosse Way shortly after 1:30 PM on Thursday, 25 June.
Police and Fire Services Mobilized
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson confirmed: "Emergency services are currently carrying out searches in Syston to locate a teenage boy who was reported to have entered a lake." Officers are working alongside colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to conduct searches of the water and surrounding area.
The spokesperson added: "Officers are currently in attendance with colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Searches are being carried out to locate the boy and officers are in contact with his next of kin. We will provide further updates when we are able to."
Ongoing Operation
The search operation remains active as of Thursday evening. Authorities have not yet released the boy's identity or age, but described him as a teenage boy. The public has been asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to work efficiently.
