Leicestershire Police have launched a major investigation and public appeal to find a missing university student who vanished after being captured on CCTV running down a street in the early hours.
Urgent Appeal for Missing Student
Aryan Sharma, aged 20, was last seen on CCTV footage at approximately 12.30am on Saturday, 23 November, on Meadow Lane on the outskirts of Loughborough. The student had left his accommodation in the Woodgate area of the town much earlier, at around 9.20pm on Friday evening.
Detectives have established that he was walking towards the Stanford-on-the-Soar area when he was last captured on camera. He had been in Loughborough town centre in the hours preceding his disappearance. Despite extensive enquiries, his whereabouts remain unknown, prompting a significant police operation.
Extensive Search Operation Underway
Leicestershire Police have deployed considerable resources in the effort to locate Aryan. The force has confirmed the use of trained search officers, police dogs, a force drone, and divers. They are being assisted by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and specialist volunteers from Leicestershire Search and Rescue (SAR).
Alongside the physical search, officers are meticulously reviewing hours of CCTV, analysing phone data, and assessing information from witnesses who have already come forward.
Detective Inspector Jonathan Dickens, leading the investigation, stated: "We are piecing together Aryan's movements from the time he left his student accommodation... Any additional witness sightings, dash camera footage and CCTV are really important to further our enquiries."
Public Asked to Check Dashcams and Come Forward
Police are particularly keen to hear from any motorists or pedestrians who may have seen Aryan in the key timeframe between 12.15am and 2am on the morning of Saturday, 23 November. The areas of interest are Meadow Lane, Stanford Lane and the surrounding vicinity.
The investigation team is urging drivers to check any dashcam footage they may have from that time and location. Aryan is described as an Asian male, 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with collar-length black hair.
He was last seen wearing a distinctive long black trench coat, shorts, and black trainers with a white trim.
