A 19-year-old man has tragically lost his life following a single-vehicle collision in the quiet village of Great Dalby, Leicestershire. The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 20, when a white Vauxhall Corsa left the roadway and struck a tree on Station Road.
Emergency Response
Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) were dispatched to the scene shortly after 8.45pm. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that the vehicle had collided with a tree, resulting in severe injuries to the occupants.
One of the passengers, a 19-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, aged 18, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he continues to receive treatment for serious injuries. Two additional passengers, who were seated in the rear of the vehicle, were also taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Constable Emma Neeves, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), has issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward. "I'm appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to come forward," she said. "Any information or evidence you're able to provide regarding this incident could help our ongoing enquiries. This includes anyone who saw the collision occur or who saw the Corsa beforehand."
