Teenager Charged with Murder After 14-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead in South London
A teenager has been formally charged with the murder of a 14-year-old boy who was fatally shot in south-east London, according to the Metropolitan Police. The tragic incident occurred on April 2 in Lord Warwick Street, Woolwich, where Eghosa Ogbebor lost his life.
Arrests and Charges in the Ongoing Investigation
The accused, a 16-year-old from Romford, was initially arrested on April 4 and released on bail. He was rearrested on April 9 and subsequently charged with murder on Friday, April 10. He is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates Court on Saturday.
In addition to this charge, the police investigation has led to multiple other arrests. On April 4, officers detained a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man in Woolwich on suspicion of murder, along with a 46-year-old man suspected of assisting an offender. All three individuals were released on bail pending further inquiries.
Further Arrests and Police Response
Earlier, on April 3, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man were arrested in connection with Eghosa's death. They have also been bailed as the investigation progresses. More recently, on April 10, another 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
The Metropolitan Police were first called to the scene in Woolwich at approximately 3:40 pm on April 2. Since then, specialist officers have been providing support to Eghosa's family during this difficult time.
