Third arrest in connection with the incident
Police confirmed that the 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, October 7. He is the third man to be arrested following the incident in the Merchant City and the only man arrested in connection with the death.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date. Previously, a 19-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the disturbance but has been released pending further enquiries.
Tributes to Daniel Colrain
Daniel worked at the Old Smiddy bar in Cathcart, Glasgow's southside, where he grew up. Colleagues paid tribute to their "dear friend" and set up a GoFundMe page for his family, which has raised over £19,000.
A statement on the page read: "We are completely heartbroken to share that our dear colleague and friend, Daniel, has passed away. To know Daniel was to experience his warmth and kindness first hand. Over the past three years at The Smiddy, he built wonderful friendships with every member of our staff and became a cherished part of our close-knit group."
Heartbroken regulars also shared their memories on the bar's Facebook page. Michael Campbell wrote: "Daniel was a lovely big guy, not a bad bone in his body, just loved a laugh and a joke and all the Smiddy regulars loved a chat and a laugh with him. What a terrible shame that his young life was taken in such an unruly manner."
