A second child has died following a multi-vehicle crash on the A30 in Cornwall, police have confirmed. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening near Redruth, involved a car colliding with the back of a tractor on a slip road.
A 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a one-year-old child was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The child was initially kept overnight at Treliske Hospital as a precaution, but has since died.
Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No further details about the victims have been released at this time.
The A30 slip road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended the scene and investigators carried out their work. The road has since reopened.
