A busy Bury road remains closed by police after a serious crash. Emergency services rushed to Church Street West, Radcliffe, after receiving reports of the incident on Tuesday (October 6).

Pictures from the scene show emergency services outside a row of shops on Stand Lane. Other images showed a white tent and an HGV behind the cordon.
One resident told the Manchester Evening News the incident took place at around 4.30pm. A resident who heard the crash described the sound as 'horrific'. Another local voiced their concern before adding 'things never happen like this here.'
Investigation ongoing
It is understood that an HGV was involved in the incident. Investigators on the site could be seen inspecting the cab of the lorry, which has now been recovered from the scene. A fire engine and ambulance were also spotted at the scene, and a cordon remains in place.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "We are currently dealing with a serious collision on Church Street West in Radcliffe. Numerous emergency service resources are being utilised and the road has been closed pending further enquiries. We thank people for their patience as this work is carried out."
There is currently no information on injuries.
