Dash Cam Captures Illegal U-Turn Leading to Collision in Victoria

A dramatic dash cam video has captured the moment a truck narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a sedan that performed an illegal U-turn on a country road in Victoria. The incident occurred on Darly Road in Don Valley, where the truck driver, identified as Kulwinder, was travelling when an elderly driver attempted the dangerous manoeuvre.

The footage shows the sedan crossing double white lines to execute the U-turn, directly in the path of the oncoming truck. Kulwinder can be heard swearing as he realises a collision is imminent. The truck missed a head-on crash by less than a metre, but the side of the sedan was struck.

After both vehicles stopped, the elderly driver, wearing sunglasses, walked over to speak with Kulwinder. When asked if he was okay, the man reportedly said he did not know the truck had hit him. Kulwinder later shared the footage on the Facebook group Dash Cam Owners Australia, noting that there were no injuries and his truck's load remained secure due to double strapping.

Kulwinder stated that the elderly driver admitted to being distracted and not seeing the truck coming. He added that he always keeps his headlights on winding roads. The incident highlights the dangers of illegal U-turns and driver inattention.
