Police are hunting a gunman after a 35-year-old man was found dead at a house in West Lothian. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin have been informed.

Car found on fire nearby

A short time later, a car was found on fire nearby in the Netherhouses area, which is understood to be linked to the shooting. Forensic officers have been pictured at the scene where the victim was discovered, and detectives were seen in the garden area of the property taking bags of evidence away from the residential street.

Police line of inquiry

Police said enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of both incidents. They confirmed that a line of inquiry is that a firearm may have been involved in the incident. Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay, of the Major Investigations Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died in this incident. Officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns or any information can approach them or call us on 101, quoting incident number 1361 of Saturday, September 12, 2026.”
