Darren Inkpen, a convicted paedophile assessed as posing a 'high risk of serious harm' to children, is on the run after failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders' Register. The 56-year-old was released from prison in Kent in April 2026 but has not relocated to Leeds as required, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Conviction and Sentence
Inkpen was jailed in 2021 at Newcastle Crown Court after admitting three sexual assaults in the Hartlepool area. His victim was left 'shaking' as a result of the attacks. He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life. During sentencing, he complained that his prison term might prevent him from participating in miniature horse shows.
Breach of Conditions
Originally from Woodview Road in Beeston, Leeds, Inkpen was first released in November 2025 but was returned to jail after failing to register his address with police. He was released again in April 2026 from a Kent prison, with the condition that he move to the Leeds area. However, he has since failed to comply with the register's conditions, prompting a fresh police appeal.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: 'Police are appealing for information to help locate Darren Inkpen who is wanted for failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders' Register. Inkpen, aged 56, was released from prison in Kent in April after being recalled to prison following a previous breach last year. He was due to relocate to the Leeds area. Since his release, he has failed to comply with the conditions of the Sex Offenders' Register.'

Officers have conducted extensive arrest enquiries and are now seeking public assistance. Inkpen has connections to Kent and Sussex, in addition to Yorkshire.
