Police Officer Critical After Crash Supporting Vance Motorcade

A police officer is in critical condition following a crash in Tennessee on Friday night while supporting Vice President JD Vance's motorcade, authorities said.

The incident occurred in Maryville, about 17 miles south of Knoxville, involving a state trooper and a Maryville Police Department motorcycle officer, according to a city statement. Both were taken to hospital, but the trooper's condition has not been released.

Katherine Pierce, the U.S. Secret Service’s resident agent in charge in Knoxville, confirmed the agency is monitoring the situation closely. “The safety and movement of our protectees were not impacted by this incident,” she said.
