A police officer patrolling New York City's subway system has been suspended without pay following the emergence of a disturbing Instagram video in which he unleashes a torrent of racist abuse against Black men.
The incident, which has sparked outrage and an internal investigation, involved an officer from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) police force. The now-viral video captured the uniformed officer making deeply offensive and threatening comments while standing in what appears to be a station.
Viral Video Sparks Immediate Backlash
The footage, which quickly circulated on social media platforms, shows the officer using derogatory language and making violent suggestions. His remarks specifically targeted Black men, causing widespread condemnation from the public and officials alike.
In response to the video, the MTA acted swiftly. An MTA spokesperson confirmed that the officer was immediately stripped of his gun and badge and placed on suspension pending a full investigation. The authority emphasised that the views expressed in the video are abhorrent and do not represent the values of the MTA Police Department.

"The MTA has zero tolerance for racism and hate speech of any kind," the authority stated. The case has been referred to the MTA's professional standards division, which will conduct a thorough review that could lead to further disciplinary action, including potential termination.
