A police cordon has been established in the Leicestershire village of Newbold Verdon following reports of a shooting late Tuesday evening. The incident occurred on Brascote Lane, where locals reported hearing three gunshots at approximately 10.29pm.

According to a local resident who wished to remain anonymous, two shots were fired into a car and another through the front door of a house. The man, who has family in the area, stated that the event has caused considerable alarm within the community. He added that there are no known injuries at this time.

Two other local men, also speaking on condition of anonymity, told Leicestershire Live that this is the first time such an incident has occurred in Newbold Verdon. One of them expressed shock, saying: 'It does come as a shock - I've lived here for several years. This is the first time something like this has happened in our village.' The second man noted: 'These sorts of things don't happen in places like this, you'd expect this to happen in places like Leicester. It makes me feel a bit nervous really.'
The shooting has left residents feeling uneasy, with one describing the situation as 'very out of the norm' for the area. Police are currently investigating the incident, and a cordon remains in place as inquiries continue.
