A quiet Bristol community has been left reeling in horror after the mutilated body of a mother-of-three was discovered concealed inside a suitcase.
The victim, named locally as Ayda, was found at a property in the upmarket Seabank Mills development in the city. The grim discovery was made on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood.
Ex-Partner Charged
In a swift development following the discovery, Zahid Younis, 36, who is understood to have been the woman's former partner, has been charged with her murder.
Younis, of no fixed address, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Thursday, where the charges were formally read. He was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Friday.
A Life Cut Short
While formal identification is yet to be completed, friends and local sources have identified the victim as Ayda, a mother to three young children. The nature of her injuries has been described by sources as 'mutilation', adding a further layer of brutality to the tragic case.
The property where the suitcase was found is part of the modern Seabank Mills complex, a conversion of former industrial buildings now housing apartments, situated near the bustling city centre.
Community in Mourning
The incident has cast a pall over the area, with residents expressing their disbelief and sorrow. The victim is remembered as a devoted mother, whose life was tragically and violently cut short.
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed they are continuing their investigations to establish the full circumstances leading to Ayda's death.
