Northumbria Police and Durham Constabulary have released the identities of 39 individuals jailed in the North East during September 2022. The cases heard in courts across the region ranged from murder to petty theft, including a nightmare neighbour who fractured a man's skull with a piece of wood, a retired teacher distributing child rape material, and a gunman who shot at children playing in a tree.
Among those sentenced was Callum MacGregor, 25, of Sunderland, who was jailed for ten months at Newcastle Crown Court for failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements. MacGregor had been convicted in 2015 for sexually assaulting a three-year-old and was required to register with police annually, but failed to do so.
Cain Lebihan, 21, of no fixed address, was jailed for 22 months for assaulting an emergency worker, breaching a restraining order, and other offences. He bit a police officer's finger during an arrest in Sunderland in January and later smashed car windows with a hammer and punched his sister.
Jack Murray, 21, of Hebburn, received a 146-day prison sentence after police found a lock knife in his bag while he was receiving hospital treatment for a stab wound in South Shields. He pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon.
Graeme Park, 43, of Gateshead, was sentenced for burglary, attempted burglary, and fraud after breaking into a Newcastle BrewDog bar and stealing £1,200 worth of alcohol, then using a stolen bank card to buy more booze. He also failed to appear at court on two occasions.
